Phosphatidic Acid and mTOR, How Are They Essential to Muscle Growth? During weight training, your body begins to induce muscle growth by activating mTOR. mTOR is the main enzyme that is responsible for cell protein synthesis which results in hypertrophy. During the eccentric (negative) portion of any exercise, the body releases PA (Phosphatidic Acid) which activates the mTOR.
